Jerry's Dream Camp

Partnering with Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove

Partnerships with community organizations like the Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove help us make an impact in the lives of children from East Dallas.

Impacting the lives of our future leaders

At Hidden Acres, we provide a fun, safe and educational environment for children to grow as individuals. The campers participate in many activities including swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing, archery, orienteering, active games, and our team-building challenge course.  Our main goal at Hidden Acres is to serve our campers and share with them the love of Christ. During a week of camp each camper will receive individual attention and a lot of love and encouragement.

Many of the campers who return to camp tell us that they look forward to camp each year. Hidden Acres appreciates the dedication of groups like the Kiwanis Club who make a summer camp experience available to children who would otherwise never afford a camp experience.  We would love this outreach to continue to grow and reach many more at-risk youth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  And we can do it with your help.  Won’t you join us in making this dream come true, please contact us for more information.

Jerry’s Dream

Jerry Diffee, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove saw a need to bring inner-city children to a place where the children would have the opportunity to experience a week of camp in the great outdoors.  Jerry shared his dream and vision with the Kiwanis Club members.  He asked the members to raise funds to sponsor youth from the Pleasant Grove comunity to go to camp.

In 1995 His dream became a reality when Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove sponsored 25 children to attend their first camp at Hidden Acres Camp and Retreat Center.  When the Kiwanis Club members saw the children enjoying themselves at camp and crying when it was time to leave they resolved to make it happen again.  By 2002, the Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove was sponsoring two camps.  In 2007, Jerry passed away but the legacy he left at Hidden Acres and the Kiwanis Club Pleasant Grove continues.

With great honor the camps sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove have been renamed Jerry’s Dream Camp.  The last few years with the help of many generous people and the dedicated work of Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove, about 80 children from the South East Dallas community have been able to experience a dream come true.  And it is the dream of Hidden Acres to continue reaching out to the children of East Dallas.
