Camp Skholē:
An Education that Nurtures Wonder, Wisdom, and Worship
Camp Skholē is a homeschool cooperative of Hidden Acres, guided by a dedicated steering committee, where students and families learn and grow together in Christ-centered community.
About
Camp Skholē is a Christ-centered homeschool community where wonder, wisdom, and worship come together. Rooted in the Charlotte Mason tradition and the mission of Hidden Acres, we offer rich learning experiences, outdoor adventures, and discipleship that nurture both the heart and the mind. Through leadership training, hands-on classes, and a vibrant community, we partner with families to raise up servant-hearted leaders equipped to impact the world for Christ.
History
In 2015, Hidden Acres launched the OAKS Leadership Homeschool Co-op to support families with faith-based learning and leadership development. Rooted in our mission—to experience Christ, expand community, and equip leaders—OAKS offered structured learning alongside meaningful relationships.
In 2022, the Hidden Acres Board of Directors expanded this vision, establishing Camp Skholē under the leadership of Tim and Rebeca Carpenter and the Executive Steering Committee. This renewed structure broadened educational opportunities while continuing to cultivate Christ-centered growth, community, and servant leadership.
Mission
At Camp Skholē, we cultivate disciples of Christ—awakening wonder in creation, shaping servant-hearted leaders, and delighting in life-giving education.
Vision
We envision raising up a generation of Christ-like servant-leaders who boldly disciple others and shape the future by spreading truth, goodness, and beauty, transforming the world for the glory of Christ.
Culture
Camp Skholē is rooted in Mark 10:43–45, where Jesus calls His disciples to serve as He served. We strive to work together as the body of Christ, fostering cooperation in love and grace. We partner with families who diligently teach God’s Word and model Christlike servant-leadership.
Pedagogy
Our approach to learning is inspired by Charlotte Mason, offering a rich and varied feast of ideas. We provide every child with a living education—one that nurtures the mind, shapes the heart, and fosters a lifelong love of learning.
Camp Skholē is designed to nurture both character and curiosity through two distinct programs:
OAKS Leadership Program –
A focus on virtue, character, and outdoor experiences to develop godly servant-leaders.
Mini-Mesters –
A wide feast of learning, offering rotating classes each fall and spring, inspired by Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy.
By blending biblical discipleship, hands-on learning, and vibrant community, Camp Skholē equips students with knowledge and character, preparing them to lead with wisdom and integrity.
