Summer Camp Roles

Head Counselors

Head Counselors carry one of the most important roles at camp. Your leadership and dedication directly shape each camper’s experience, often determining whether they leave camp encouraged, cared for, and excited to return. This role is both challenging and deeply rewarding, requiring maturity, responsibility, and a servant’s heart. Applicants must be high school graduates. Positions are limited, and this is a paid role.

Assistant Counselors

Assistant Counselors play a vital role in shaping the camper experience. Working alongside Head Counselors, you will help provide care, guidance, and encouragement to campers while learning valuable leadership skills yourself. This role is demanding yet incredibly rewarding, as campers often remember the dedication of their counselors for years to come. Applicants must have completed at least their freshman year of high school. This is a volunteer role.

Waterfront Directors & Lifeguards

Safety at the pool and lake is of the highest priority, making this role essential to the success of camp. Waterfront staff are responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment while exercising firm, attentive supervision. Applicants must complete lifeguard certification prior to serving. These are paid positions.

Media Team

Our Media Team captures the memories that campers and staff will treasure long after summer ends. The Media Coordinator oversees the team, ensuring the best moments are documented through photography and video. Applicants for Media Coordinator must have prior experience in leadership and photography and/or videography. This is a paid role. Media Assistants are volunteers with photography skills and a collaborative spirit.

Kitchen Crew

The Kitchen Crew plays a key role in camp by providing nutritious, homestyle meals that fuel campers and staff for their busy days. Kitchen staff are expected to serve with a joyful and willing spirit, meeting the needs of the camp family through hospitality and care. A limited number of paid assistant roles are available, alongside volunteer positions.

Set-up/Maintenance

The Set-Up and Maintenance Team ensures the smooth operation of camp by supporting logistics and facility upkeep. Responsibilities include setting up equipment for games and activities, ensuring campers stay hydrated, maintaining clean grounds, and helping keep facilities safe and welcoming. The Set-Up/Maintenance Coordinator is a paid role requiring leadership experience. Assistant positions are volunteer roles open to applicants who have completed at least their freshman year of high school.

Games/Activities:

This team brings energy, fun, and team-building to camp through organized activities and games. Staff must be able to foster healthy competition while maintaining an atmosphere of encouragement and joy. The Games & Activities Coordinator is a paid role requiring leadership experience and certification as an archery instructor, as well as the ability to lead Bazooka Ball. Assistant positions are volunteer roles open to applicants who have completed at least their freshman year of high school.

Serving at Hidden Acres Summer Camp is more than just a summer job—it’s a calling. High school and college-aged leaders have the unique opportunity to invest in the next generation while growing in their own faith and leadership. From leading small groups to cheering on campers at activities, our staff play a vital role in creating a Christ-centered camp experience. Together, we work, pray, and serve so that every camper encounters the love of Jesus. In the process, staff discover lasting friendships, valuable ministry skills, and the joy of being used by God in a powerful way.

Applications open November 1st. Once submitted, they will be reviewed by our head staff, and applicants will be contacted by email to schedule an interview. Final confirmation emails will be sent after hiring decisions are made.
